Saja AlBayati at the Baghdad Conference on Youth, Peace and Security
Participation in the Baghdad Conference on Youth, Peace and Security, which addressed youth empowerment and the importance of strengthening their role in peacebuilding, security, and active participation in Iraq’s future.
As part of the Baghdad Conference on Youth, Peace and Security, Engineer Saja AlBayati attended and followed the sessions and discussions addressing key issues and challenges facing Iraqi youth, as well as ways to strengthen their role in peacebuilding, security, and contributing to a more stable future for Iraq.
The conference addressed several themes related to United Nations Security Council Resolution 2250 on Youth, Peace and Security, highlighting the importance of expanding youth participation in public life and strengthening their involvement in peacebuilding processes and efforts to prevent extremism and violence.
The discussions also focused on youth empowerment and supporting youth incubators, emphasizing the need to provide an enabling environment that helps young people develop their capabilities and transform their ideas and potential into practical initiatives and projects. The conference also highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation between state institutions and civil society organizations to support an aware, proactive, and responsible generation of young people.
The conference was attended by a number of prominent figures and specialists, including Dr. Akram, representing the Ministry of Youth, Mr. Mustafa Shawi, Dr. Ahmed Al-Khafaji, and Ms. Shireen Al-Jaf, while the dialogue was moderated by Ms. Sarah Salam.
AlBayati expressed her appreciation for the youth-led efforts in organizing the conference, particularly the efforts of Mr. Alaa Al-Sheikh, highlighting the importance of creating spaces for dialogue that allow young people to express their perspectives and participate in discussions on issues related to peace, security, and Iraq’s future.
She emphasized that youth empowerment has become a national necessity and that young people are not merely beneficiaries of policies and decisions, but essential partners in shaping and implementing them and in building a safer, more stable, and prosperous Iraq.
